Still Life & Floral

Still Life & Floral

"Still Life" can be almost anything - traditional still life certainly, but it could be anything created by mankind which draws my interest.    Once again, the play of light and shadow is what attracts me to any of these objects.  All of my paintings are about form, shape, light, dark, and color no matter what the subject may be.  I have added floral to this collection because often my still life set ups include flowers.

Animal

Animal

I love animals of all kinds and have shared my home with dogs for many years.   My current furry friend is a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel .  You will see this engaging Spaniel and his friends gracing my portfolio from time to time.  In this Gallery I have included pets,  domestic animals and wildlife.

Figure & Portrait

Figure & Portrait

When I was young and studied art in college (and before), Figure & Portrait Drawing was my favorite subject.  I now find so many subjects which draw my attention that I no longer confine myself to my earlier favorite, but I do still love to draw and paint people.  Whenever possible I paint or draw from life - forcing myself to focus on shape, value and gesture.  Regardless of the subject it is form, shape, and the play of light against shadow which makes a painting successful.

Landscape & Buildings

Landscape & Buildings

This collection includes landscape and architecture.  At times I venture out for a Plein Air session and often refine the painting further in my studio from photos or sketches taken at the site.  Some paintings in this gallery are painted solely from photos that I have taken and notes I have collected at the scene.  My husband and I spend our summers in the beautiful White Mountains of Eastern Arizona where the sky is cobalt blue and the air crisp and cool.  It is a painter's Paradise.

Abstract

Abstract

These paintings are my artistic alter-ego.  Some have a realistic counterpart in one of my other collections.  At times I like to lead a painting "from behind", letting the paint tell me where it wants to go while nudging it along its path with added pattern, shape, color and line.  Paintings in this collection may or may not reveal a subject.  Sometimes they are simply color and form.

Watercolor

Watercolor

I began painting in watercolor in the late Eighties and it remained my favorite medium for many years.  More recently I have switched to oil as my medium of choice and now only rarely return to watercolor.  Many of the paintings in this collection are among my favorites and some are still available and priced as shown.  A few of them will remain in my own collection or in the homes of family members.
